For Intermediates: Catchy Heavy Metal Song Reviews. Ghost of Perdition by Opeth
There is no denying the skill of Opeth. Super cool in every way. They don’t play the most difficult music out there, but it is definitely some of the most complex metal to date. Opeth is among the bands that were allowed to break through and become popular when Metallica sold out. What separates this from what I would call advanced music is that I can learn the rhythms to a song like this much easier than those that are among the top of their discipline. For example, though Opeth is at the top of the metal discipline, I could not accurately say that they are at the top of musicians of all collected genres. There are hundreds if not thousands of musicians that are better, assuming that they are trying to play progressive metal.
