You know if I had to judge this album by track 1, I would
say 4 or 5 starts. Yet, Legacy of Kings
has its weaknesses. I won’t criticize
them for being totally unoriginal because that is not very important to
me. What matters is that the album as a
whole is good. That is, if you do
everything that has been done before you, but do it good, then in my opinion
you still have a chance to make a tremendously good album.
I started with track 1, which I said is great. Then, the next song is not quite as good, and
the song after that one is even less good than the previous. Keep in mind,
like to review an album as a whole, and not separate tracks. 12 songs, which I would say is the average
for any album, is only a few song, and thus they should all be good. Now, I won’t track 1 is the only really good
track. Track 4 is also really good, and
has given me much listening pleasure.
Track 5 is also another really good track, and as all power metal bands
do, Hammer Fall with is also capable of proving their skills through a really
good power ballad. When it comes to
power ballads, Hammer Fall are far above much of the competition when it comes
to their skills. Track 6 is a 2 star
track. So, what I am getting at is that
Legacy of Kings is really only a mixed bag.
As far is the drums go, they are great throughout the
album. The singer has his weak
moments. I won’t say that he is not a
good singer though, but sometimes I hear him and think, “That’s top notch,” but
then there are these farts that are just plain pathetic.
